As we have often observed, Icelandic nature provides our workshop participants with much creative inspiration. Our trips and workshops are planed to provide unique experiences of Icelandic culture and Icelandic nature where you will meet local people and artists. Hiking and Workshop in Iceland for Ceramic Artists
This trip is primarily intended for ceramic artists and for people who are interested in experiencing the unique nature of Iceland and would like to meet Icelandic artists. Participants will have the opportunity to collect material in the natural environment including volcanic lava from recent and older eruptions from black lava beaches, etc. We offer an 8 day trip and begin our travel in the south of Iceland and will stay in a cabin in Þórsmörk for two nights. We will hike to the area between the two glaciers, where the eruption occurred in 2010 and collect some material from the two craters Magni and Móði.
The group will be picked up at the airport and driven to a hotel in the town of Hafnarfjörður in the capital area.
19:00 Welcoming dinner. We will review our itinerary and get acquainted with each other.
9:00 Departure from the hotel. We will drive to Þorlákshöfn and collect some material from an eruption of the famous volcano Hekla. We will then drive to Stokkseyri and Eyrabakki to the black lava beach and for those who wish to we will then hike along the shoreline.

We will then drive further east to Eyjafjöll “The island mountains“. We will then stop at the visitor center by the farm Þorvaldseyri and watch the documentary film about the 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull. After the film we will visit the fascinating waterfall Skógafoss and then drive back to the valley of Þórsmörk, where we will stay for the next two nights.

9:00 Hike to the craters Magni and Móði – approx. 6 – 8 hours
Evening barbeque in Básar.

9:00 We will drive to Þórsmörk and stop by the waterfall Seljalandsfoss where we will experience an enchanting walk on the path behind the waterfall.
Lunch at Eldstó in Hvolsvöllur.
We will then drive to Flúðir for a relaxing bath in the Secret Lagoon, which actually is the oldest pool in Iceland, built in 1891. We will then have coffee at Braggi and meet the artist Elín. Braggi is the Icelandic word for a radically transformed Quonset hut from the World War II period.
19:00 Dinner in Hafnarfjörður and follwed by stay at Hotel Viking.
9:00 The group will visit Íshús Hafnarfjarðar „The Icehouse of Hafnarfjörður“ which is a former fish processing station. There we will hear about the current projects of this group of artists.
12:00 Lunch brought to Íshús Hafnarfjarðar.
An evening of leisure.
9:00 – 17:00 Workshop at Íshús Hafnarfjarðar and an evening of leisure.
9:00 A morning visit to the ceramic workshop at Íshús Hafnarfjarðar.
13:00 Reykjavík sightseeing. Lunch at the Café Flóra at the Botanic Garden. Visit galleries and museums and take a bath in one of the town´s many swimming pools.
Dinner in the center of Reykjavík.
9:00 – 17:00 Workshop at Íshús Hafnarfjarðar
19:00 Dinner and party at the studio of an Icelandic artist.
This party ends the tour but it is possible to rent the studio for extra days. For those staying on, arrangements will be made for a hotel, meals, travel and other things to make their stay comfortable.
The last night will be spent at Hotel Viking.
